Kaitlyn Briggs

Kaitlyn Briggs is a 22 year old bluegrass mandolin player from central Iowa. Kaitlyn has always loved music. She started out playing piano at 5 years old, and began playing mandolin when she was 9. Since then, she has started learning to play guitar, bass, banjo, and percussion. Kaitlyn loves listening to and playing many different genres of music, including bluegrass, country, rock, blues, jazz, surf, and spaghetti western theme songs. She has played mandolin for her family's bluegrass band, the Briggs Family Band, since 2013, and loves to jam. Some of Kaitlyn's favorite mandolin heroes are Sam Bush, Sierra Hull, Adam Steffey, David Grisman, David Benedict, and Chris Thile. Kaitlyn has won 1st place in the Iowa State Fair mandolin contest 2 times, 2019 and 2024, and placed 2nd in the Iowa State Fair guitar contest in 2025.
