My Favorite Festivals
Strawberry Jam Camp
Kaitlyn has attended this camp for many years, and she has recently started helping as a junior instructor. Located in Strawberry Point, Iowa, the camp is a great place to learn how to jam, meet new people, and have fun! They also have a Songwriter's camp that Kaitlyn also attended, where you learn about songwriting and get to work with the instructors and other campers to write songs.
Backbone Bluegrass Festival
Kaitlyn has been going to the Backbone Bluegrass Festival every year since 2011, and it is her favorite festival to attend. Located in Strawberry Point, IA, it is the largest and longest running Bluegrass Festivals in Iowa. Kaitlyn recently wrote an article on the festival for the November 2025 edition of Bluegrass Unlimited magazine. Kaitlyn loves helping out with the festival and being a part of the festival committee.
Kalona Bluegrass Festival
The Kalona Bluegrass Festival is another one of Kaitlyn's favorite festivals. It is located in Kalona, Iowa, and it is a great place to jam and hear great music. One of her favorite memories about the festival is picking fresh mulberries and eating them on ice cream while listening to her friends and family jam together.
